The Insomnia Statistics Don't Show the REAL Problem

>

Listen. It really is clear that insomnia is fairly widespread. Most people have had trouble sleeping at one point, and a great deal of people have this challenge chronically. And for sure, specific factors aggravate it. If you look at the following insomnia statistics:

  • These days we sleep 20% less on average compared to a century ago
  • Insomnia sufferers amount in the tens of millions in the US alone
  • 51% of Americans report getting impacted by stress and/or anxiousness to the point of insomnia
  • Ladies are nearly twice as likely as guys to have insomnia
  • 90% of customers with clinical depression also have their sleep detrimentally impacted
  • The pharmaceuticals industry benefits from the close to 10 million consumers in the US who use prescription sleep aids to enable them sleep
  • Most people who are chronically sleep deprived are even more probably to develop into overweight
  • Various surveys show 60% of Americans possessing driven their vehicle while feeling sleepy (and 37% admitting to essentially having fallen asleep at the wheel) in the past year

You will agree that this is a far cry from the way important things could be. I think this is largely a product of the society we live in. The life-style we're all accustomed to seems to be one of "go, go, go!" We are encouraged to function truly tough, attempt to get ahead, and fuel our high octane weeks with coffee and coke zero. As quickly as the workday is over, we are expected to get out there with our good friends and party. Or for these of us with families, we are to give our children with our undivided time and focus, *and* have energy left more than for passion and romance with our spouse.

Whew. The insomnia statistics almost certainly didn't surprise you, and your heart is telling you that this has to stop! No wonder we can't sleep. We don't give ourselves the time (no wonder we have to have caffeine) and the sleep we *are* receiving is not the quality it should be. Some of us may possibly use sleep aids, and although they can knock you unconscious for a few hrs, what they cannot deliver is quality, restorative sleep that leaves you feeling all topped up, refreshed, enlivened.

We have to have to deal with what is creating the insomnia, and for a lot of us that's the tension and anxiousness in our lives. To do that, we have to take a lengthy difficult appear at what's certainly imperative. We will need to tell ourselves, "This is a day that I will certainly not ever get back. A day that I will never ever get to relive once again." This is not our practice life!!! This is it. This is all we've got. Only in this state of thoughts can we essentially commence to see what definitely matters to us. What are we certainly operating in our hamster wheels for?

When we get crystal clear about what *truly* matters in life, only then can we do what requirements to be executed. Have a conversation with another person we've been meaning to have, or a conversation that we've been avoiding. To powerfully say what we've been holding onto this complete time. Or talk to our boss and redefine what we seriously want out of our jobs. If that doesn't produce less tension and much more satisfaction, even uncovering a new task. Or perhaps, jump with both feet into a whole new career path, one that was in fact what we needed when we were younger, only we let our doubts and society's expectations get in the way.

When we certainly search, we commence to see how all of these little stresses sit at the back of our mind, loose ends we've left untied, issues we've left unsaid, affecting our excellent of life each single day. Facing these stresses is the only way to banish them from our minds. And with every loose finish we tie, we have a tiny bit a lot more peace of mind, and we sleep a little bit more effective.

The insomnia statistics tell us we're not alone. But when we bring to the front of our minds what's really establishing anxiety in our lives, we have the energy to actually do anything about it. Go, go, go. Tie up these loose ends in your life. This is one thing really worth performing. This is not your practice life. This is it. The time is now! Make it take place.
